PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Food Service Cook provides quality food and customer service to students in a safe, timely and pleasant manner.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
- The Food Service Cook reports directly to the assigned Kitchen Manager and the Director of Food Services.
- Works cooperatively with administration, supervisors, staff, parents and students to perform job responsibilities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Board approved school service days; hours and days worked based on assignment.
- Rates and benefits according to agreement with the Board of School Directors.
- According to the School District Policy Manual (available in the main office of each building).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepares food safely, using the proper methods and according to recipes.
- Assure proper portion control for serving and maintaining food cost.
- Maintain accurate records and documents.
- Assume responsibilities of manager in the event of manager’s absence.
- Assist Manager with inventory ordering, receiving and control.
- Properly operates, utilizes and cleans equipment.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and is team oriented.
- Recipe development based on need and trend.
- Responsible for proper food storage.
- Mastery of cooking skills and methods.

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with quantity food preparation and service
- Food Safety Program certificate required and maintained
- Knowledge of quantity food production and customer service
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions
- Ability to work in a friendly manner and communicate with co-workers and students
- Neat and clean appearance
- Current Act 34, Act 151, FBI & Act 126 clearances
- The person, while performing in this position, will be required to:
- Remain in a stationary position 50%
- Move about work area with ease
- Position self accurately and safely
- Have the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and or move up to 50 pounds
- Have specific vision abilities including close, color and adjust focus.
- Handle hot and sharp objects
- Use hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Have ability to communicate and converse with employees and students
- Be exposed to cafeteria/kitchen environmental conditions with severe temperature changes and moderate to loud noise levels.
